This just breaks my heart - please join me in prayer

    First of all I want to say I’m fine and my family is all fine.  I don't mean to startle anyone with the title of this post. Someone recently forwarded me a You Tube video about the astonishing influence that Oprah Winfrey’s latest project is having on the world. I'm sure some of you are Oprah fans, she certainly has done some incredible things for people!    She’s helped feed the hungry, educate the impoverished, and given hope to many people. She’s also inspired and motivated thousands of people to follow her footsteps in doing good works.  But while meeting the physical needs of these people is absolutely commendable, she is also leading them to a belief system that leads people away from the saving grace of Jesus.

James 3:1 " Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly."   

Luke 12:48, 2 Timothy 4, Acts 20 28-30, and several others speak about the fate of those who lead others astray in the name of God.

    What breaks my heart is that Oprah is such a charismatic person, she has the ability to influence thousands if not millions of people, and she is so misguided.  Through the years she has had some guests on her show that have been truly inspirational. People like Lysa Terkeurst.  I’ve heard Lisa speak a couple of times. I’ve read some of her books, her articles for Proverbs 31 Women, and her personal blog. I’ve learned a lot from her! She had the opportunity to share some of the things God has done in her life on the Oprah show, and God surely used it to further His Kingdom! But she is only 1 guest, and for every 1 of them like her Oprah has 10 others that share a very different messages. 

    This You Tube video sent to me with a warning about Oprah’s latest project, a web-cast class about a book called “A New Earth.” I had heard of this and could tell it was something that wouldn’t align with my beliefs, but I found this video very interesting as to the things they are teaching. The beginning of this video talks about “a new church”, when I first heard this I thought it was a huge exaggeration of what was actually happening; but as I learn more about it I agree that is indeed what it is. A group of people with the same belief system, being led by 1 very charismatic woman, but when looking at the big picture I believe it’s actually being led by a much more sinister spirit, no one less than Satan himself. I think the video does a good job of pulling out the things that Oprah believes that fly in the face of real Christianity. If you have heard Oprah on her show, or web-cast classes, or an interview on Larry King, etc. you hear these things but they are mixed in with some other things that she says that sound very good and not necessarily against what you or I do believe. I think Oprah is conflicted herself, or possibly she puts that other stuff in so that it becomes more palatable for us to swallow the whole thing.

Please join me in prayer for Oprah, and for those who are drawn into these teachings. That her heart be open to God’s love. The True God that loves her so much that he sent his son to die for her. That her eyes will be opened to the love displayed to her by the blood of Jesus. And until then that the people that hear her message and read the book, “A New Earth” will not be deceived!
